eLogistics: Breaking Traditional Trade Barriers forum
Moderator - Anthony Wong
Panelist:
Rocky Bullock
Flexibility in sourcing and supply chain is critical to the competitiveness of companies today. New products and technologies must be quickly integrated into a supply chain regardless of the geographical location. New sources for existing products must also be able to be immediately available to allow companies to take advantage of cost and capacity advantages. As the customer base for companies expands into all regions of the globe and channel structures change the need for outbound flexibility also is increasing. eLogistics enables the supply chain flexibility necessary to stay competitive in today's global economy by “breaking the trade barriers”. SonyEricsson Case Study and role of MMS and RAE as Enablers for SME supply chains - Dr. Kreeranor Kumar
Description: Large companies aiming to establish B2B collaboration with their SME partners have by and large focused on near term solutions for this goal. While these solutions serve the purpose of the large company well, they are usually based on manual or loose data integration within the SME edge. The first part of this talk presents the Sony Ericsson solution as an illustrative example of this. More recently, SMEs are challenging their larger partners to explore solutions that support a long term vision within which they will deploy ERP applications for supply chain planning and operations. In order to fully benefit from the deployment of these applications, tighter data integration with B2B functions is a must. SMEs are interested in a roadmap that will make it possible for them to take small steps leading to that vision. The second part of this talk describes how RosettaNet programs such as Multiple Messaging Services (MMS) Web services and RosettaNet Automated Enablement II will play a key role in this roadmap. Trade Engine Approach in Implementing RosettaNet
Description: Speed of deployment and flexibility is essential in the next generation of demand driven supply chains. The drive for lower build cost by sourcing parts and building in lowest cost countries creates the need for global supply chains, which can adapt quickly to changing business needs. RosettaNet is an ideal standard for creation of the flexible network, especially when the integration of multiple trading partners is needed. The RosettaNet enabled Trade Engine creates a flexible and adaptive supply chain, which can execute on a global basis.
