RosettaNet Partners Get-Together
Thursday February 21, 2008 PENANG: Last year, RosettaNet Malaysia commended its fifth anniversary with Global Partners Conference. This year, in conjunction with the Chinese New Year celebration, RosettaNet Malaysia hosted a RosettaNet Partners Get-Together at our Office. This event was attended by nearly 25 partners and this indeed a great avenue for interaction and networking amongst the RosettaNet Partners. This session started with a welcome address by Mr. HH Foong, executive director of RosettaNet Malaysia. He said none of the event would have been success without the support from our partners. Such a continuous support enables RosettaNet Malaysia to continue to grow. After more than 5 years in Malaysia, RosettaNet has been very successful with the MNCs, but RosettaNet Malaysia will continue targets more SMEs. He also said the companies who would like to adopt RosettaNet standards can apply for the grant administered by SMIDEC. As one of the norm in RosettaNet Partners Forum, Stanley Chin, the manager of RosettaNet Malaysia has a short presentation on what's on 2007. The number of companies who implemented RosettaNet Standards has doubled from 340 in December 2006 to 670 in December 2007, meanwhile the number of connection has also increased from 10,110 to 12,202. Besides, in his presentation, he also shared some of the photos of the events especially the photos from RosettaNet Global Partners Conference. Another highlight of this forum was a sharing session from John Goh, P5 co-ordinator of MIRC. P5 is a program to help enable Small and Medium Sized Industries through an industrial Clustering Method. The P5 program was piloted with the engagement with PENFIA in April 2007. P5 brings MIRC, Technology Partners, some of the relevant government agencies, industrial associations and SMEs to roll out the e-enablement program. He also addressed some of the SME actually failed to identify the ICT potential and use ICT to innovate their businesses. In fact, they see most of the ICT adoptions are driven by cost and deficiency in Operations. Most of the problems are related to cost of adoption, lack of skill personnel, high dependence and inherent distrust of ICT suppliers and consultants. The zest of this event was the token of appreciation presentation for Mr. HH Foong for his 3 years long service in RosettaNet by Encik Izham, Director of SMIDEC Northern Region, Besides, Mr. HH Foong also presented the membership certificate to the partners who renew their membership for year 2008. On Behalf of RosettaNet Malaysia, I would like to thank all the partners for their continuous support. Your support is important to us to keep up the momentum. Prepared by: Stanley Chin
