Companies using RosettaNet to double next year

PENANG: The number of companies in the country using RosettaNet standards for e-business transactions should double to 900 next year from the present 446. 

RosettaNet Malaysia director Foong Heng Huo said during a press conference that RosettaNet Malaysia had recently released into the market a simplified version of RosettaNet standards and processes.  

RosettaNet, based on XML (extensible markup language), provides a common e-business language and aligning processes for e-business transactions worldwide.  

"The simplified version targets the small and medium enterprises (SMEs) market segment, which is more cost effective to implement, as it sends out RosettaNet Automated Enablement (RAE) partner interface process (PIP) messages. 

"We expect this simplified RosettaNet standards to be widely adopted by SMEs in the country, which will double the number of companies adopting RosettaNet standards in 2008," he said. 

Foong added that the simplified RosettaNet platform was created over a 36-month period by the RosettaNet Malaysia engineering centre on the island. 

Foong spoke at the RosettaNet Conference, which started on Monday (Oct 29) and ends on Oct 31. 

Penang Chief Minister Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon was present to launch the event. Participants came from 19 countries.
